Some applications cannot install in Windows 7 due to incompatibility issues. A solution would be to enable XP mode in a virtual environment of Windows 7. This configuration may be used to run and install programs that were incompatible in Windows 7.

In order to enable XP mode in Windows 7, your computer must meet the following requirements: Processor that supports hardware visualization. You may check if your processor is supported by using either the Intel Processor Identification Utility (if you are running Intel) or by using SecurAble. If your processor is supported, make sure that it is enabled by the BIOS settings.

2 GB of RAM Memory is recommended.

15GB of hard disk space is recommended per virtual environment you set up.

If you meet the necessary requirements, then voila! Your computer can enable XP mode in Windows 7.

The first step is to download and install both Windows Virtual PC beta and Windows XP Mode beta that can be located in the Microsoft's website. The next step is to run and finish the setup wizard of Virtual Windows XP. You have successfully installed Virtual XP if you see a loading bar that is setting up the program.

A word of advice would be to make sure that when you install a program in Virtual XP, make sure that you choose "all users" to enable other accounts to access the application. Another would be to install antivirus software in Virtual XP. Congratulations! You have now enabled XP mode in Windows 7.
